Largest layoff in Kansas City History - 38,000!

Federal Shutdown Would Have Big KC Impact

Federal Employees Await Word On Jobs

KMBC 9 News-KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Without a budget agreement or an extension, the federal government will shut down on Friday, leaving the immediate future uncertain for thousands of federal employees in the Kansas City area. The federal government employs 38,000 people in 145 different agencies in the region. Many would be affected if a shutdown takes place.

ALSO: The United State House of Representatives and the United States Senate still get paid during a government shut down, now how is that fair?
