Recession hits Golden Ghetto familes hard!

People in Johnson County are painfully aware of the number of families in their neighborhoods who are struggling financially. With Sprint screwing over the City of Overland Park. The banks loaning money to Johnson Countians that can't afford the house they are living in now. Layoffs after layoffs. Those of us who know better know that the Golden Ghetto is not so Golden these days and more Ghetto! The not in our communities and not in our county mentality have come to and end! -The Kansas City Star Reports

The number of Johnson County children in poverty has doubled between 2008 and 2009 alone, bringing the total number to nearly 14,000, or one in 10. And those are just the children. The overall number of poverty-stricken residents is growing faster in Johnson than in any other Kansas City area county.

But offer them a free breakfast but almost nobody has been showing up! To proud??

Metro Lutheran Ministries hosts a similar breakfast that regularly feeds between 100 and 200 people on Saturday mornings in Kansas City.
